What are we arguing about anyway?
My point was that Izzy currently doesn't give a toss about TA, and for a TA ladder to be effective, he'd have to start caring. Although how effective his unique brand of balance would be...

You could have fooled me.

Thats what 8v8 has been like for a long time.

Quick recap from what i've read so far :
- Some people or just not interested in PvP. It would be a waste to even try and get them to play it.
- Due to it's completely different playstyle, the entry-level for PvP is pretty high and the learning curve realy steep. You have to "start winning straight away or gtfo". A better starter level or a tiered PvP zone could be solutions to this.
- People overall need to grow a thicker skin and try to cut down on flaming new people.
- Titles (rank/fame) do more wrong than right. Better teamforming and guildforming tools are needed. (the "partysearch" just doesn't do it).
- Balancing and PvP-CR should improve.
Overall i guess point 3 (human behaviour) is pretty hard to control, but all the rest can and should be improved in GW2

im pretty sure pvp is end game content....going back to 2005 when the game came out, at the end of the last mission in pve, hells precipece, the undead prince said he will see you (the hero) again in the hall of heros. so...you go back to dragons lair and run out the portal and enter ToPK (the old HA) and begin forming a uber micro team to reclaim the hall of heros.
but you never see the prince there...douchebag.

QFT, indeed most poeple want to be 'in control' meaning that in PVE if you don't succeed the first time you try once more against the same predictive mob and eventually always win (even in the hardest PVE areas these days, Ursan, say no more). In PVP one is always in doubt what the opponent brings along and how they play, and you may risk total defeat as OP points out, in other words you are NOT in control of the situation.
Besides, PVP requires dedication in time for training and for matches, finding a fixed time with many people involved. In PVE you play whenever you like and can even take a break in between. Even if not going solo but with a friend or two, this is easier achieved in PVE then PVP. hey, "friends are on-line let's do this or that mission".
